The Graduate Management Admission Test GMAT is a standardized exam used for admission into graduate business programs such as MBA Programs across the world. It assesses quantitative (math), verbal ,reading skills as well as analytical writing. The GMAT tests critical thinking and problem solving abilities.

GMAT Exam structure

The GMAT is a (CAT) Computer Adaptive Test that is you determine the difficulty of your questions by the correctness of your responses. The GMAT is scored out of 805 points. The score ranges from 205- 805. It consists of four sections

• Analytical Writing Assessment (AWA) is a 30minute essay which tests your ability to analyze an argument.
• Integrated reasoning (IR) which assesses your ability to evaluate data from multiple sources such as graphs tables and texts. It contains 12 questions to be completed in 30 minutes.
• Quantitative reasoning which is a 31minute question that takes 62 minutes. It focuses on problem solving and data sufficiency questions. It tests basic math skills such as algebra and arithmetic.
• Verbal reasoning includes reading comprehension, critical reasoning and sentence correction. It contains 36 questions for a total of 65 minutes.

How to prepare for the GMAT
